Blair Nothdurft scores Top-5 finish at Clay County, attends I-80 Nationals
Tuesday night found Blair Nothdurft in action at Clay County Fair Speedway (Spencer, Iowa) for the Tri-State Late Model Series-sanctioned Clay County Fair Race. In a field of 26 cars, Nothdurft secured his spot into the $1,000-to-win A-Main with an 8-lap heat race victory. Dropping two positions in the 25-lap affair, Blair notched a fifth place finish behind Chad Olsen, Nick Beyenhof, Troy Daly, and Denver Nickelson.
Returning to action on Thursday, Blair headed to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned weekend. Drawing 46 cars for the I-80 Nationals, Blair failed to record a lap in time trials before placing 10th in his heat. Needing a third place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $7,000-to-win preliminary feature, Nothdurft fell short with an 11th place outing.
For another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature on Friday, Nothdurft came in 10th in his heat, sending him into the B-Main. Locking the Top 3 into the show, Blair posted an 11th place finish.
With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for Saturday night’s main event, Blair rolled off 13th in his B-Main for another shot at the $30,000-to-win finale. Transferring the Top 4, Nothdurft recorded a 12th place outing, giving him one final shot at the show with the non-qualifiers feature. Sending only the race winner, Blair Nothdurft was gaining ground early in the 20-lapper until another car wrecked in front of him, leaving him nowhere to go.
